La Difensa..... ;)

Working on them constantly....Just last nite, bought 18 morrisons spam spreadables...Printed out "partial K ration" boxes for the dinner of the 10in1 (which they are for), they where too big...so pasted onto another programme to shrink, but guess wot?...It fits, but wot about the second half of the "partial K ration"...ie the biscuits, gum, cofee?.....Three hours later...

Reproducing rations is a nitemare....But I love it...

Here's some notes on the K ration...
There are 12 rations in a wooden box...12 X 3 rows of breakfast, dinner, and supper...

These are then put into a "solid fibre box" which is then put into the wooden boxes one sees often at displays...

They where made by companies from Chicago to New York....

The West coast of the U.S was then making them, with the coffee sourced in Brazil...

Between January'42 till March '43, 50 million at an average 50 cents each....Production peaked around October-December 1943 when 21 million where produced respectively....

A photo of the 5 in 1 ration...Menu three I believe....

Note the abundance of commercial labels on products, this was not endorsed, but allowed, as some in the QMC thought of the moral effects for the troops to have items "just like from home"...Besides, the companies who put in tenders hed to go with what they where set up for...

Taken from a book "Suggested Service Menus" by the Kellogg Company 1941...A lot of recipes for the Mess, Which where recommended by the Army Cook...I am preuming this would be State Side...

BTW, I've headed this as G.I food coz we can expand on this.... ;)

Anyway, to kick off, this might interest our Rangers... ;)
