Out of interest did the HSF intend to use the same defensive ideas of WW2 should main land Britian be invaded?

Hmm, you wouldn't think so, except I think a 'conventional' invasion was still considered a possibility. It's about this time that lots of WW2 runways were dug up to stop enemy landings on them.

Yeah i have noticed that with the areas that i have worked in, in the last 3 years. still they must have been something in it, as if you look at the "302 (HSF)Sqn-The Royal Corps of Transport Gloucestershire." This was based at South Cerney, now home to JAMC. (Many a time i have spent here awaiting a flight somewhere!) Its mission was to keep the corridors of communication opne, amoungst other things, and reminds me of the WW2 defensive lines drawn up pre "Operation Sea Lion".
