I have a great interest in Wars/campaigns the UK have been involved in since 1945

Are there any groups or individuals that portray the Malaya/ Borneo emergencies or even interested in doing the era or ANZACS in Nam

Andy

Hi Andy, there is a group that does Australians in Vietnam, usually attached to the Rolling Thunder group. http://www.rolling-thunder.org.uk/index.htm

See if you can get in touch via there.

Mike.

Not quite the same, but I've put together a correct (hopefully) '49 BD for Korea 1953 North Staffs Reg.

We also have a now very well established 1974 era group within the 20th Century Revisited portraying an Anti Tank Platoon of the King's Own Scottish Borderers, Berlin Brigade, British Army of the Rhine.

With alot of our group members being ex services and few from the actual 70's era we try to get the impression dead on.

Pride of the group is Tartan Smudger's de-act L4 Mobat, also we have several period Land Rovers, sankies the works :)

How would you approach NI as a discussion?...

Unlike Forces 80, we do not portray the British Army or their opposites in Northern Ireland. The subject is still far too contentious. Also from a personal viewpoint, several of our ex-service members were "there" and it's best not to put them in a position of stress again. ;)

We prefer BAOR as nothing much happened there, but there is always the element of what if? It is also probably one of the most common Cold War postings.

20cR also has kit and equipment for Korean War Commonwealth Division and policing of the 38th Parallel during the mid 1950's.

Strangely enough, I have Nam kit, but have never used it.

i think that groups should consider protraying northern ireland at some point after all there has been peace for 14 years much like gulf war one . i do realise that some ex service men may be stressed out with it but would that not be true of any conflict that a person fought in .and its all history now anyway
constructive replies only please , as i dont want to start a needless arguement here over the past .

i think it would be interesting for the british public to see or learn of the conditions their soldiers fought in and also the true face of the opposition .. after all how many people have ever saw or met to the the opposition .
just a thought ! constructive replies only please , as i dont want to start a needless arguement here over the past .

If you were a member of "another" freedom group etc,Would you give over information relating to NI when there is chance of compromising your situation?..
