Gliderinf,

The 'Panzerfaust' 47/51 suit is one of the better repros around. The material is durable and the colours are very good. However, it is not a correct 47/51 suit as the jacket is of the 51 pattern (with the rear skirt pockets and side zipped vents) but the trousers are 52 pattern (button fly without draw tape closure). They are also sold by Trident military in the USA.
The WPG 47/51 suits are overpriced and not very well made. The colours and the print are not as good as the Panzerfaust ones but they do have the correct oversized collarless neck. The buttons and zips are also not accurate. Like the Panzerfaust ones, the jacket is 51 pattern and the trousers are 52 pattern.
Soldier of Fortune and Le Tranchee Militaire sell a repro 47/52 which is similar in colour and material to the Panzerfaust suit, but is less durable and the fixtures are not as well applied. It is correct in cut and colour.
As far as I am aware the only decent sources of information on the gear, weapons and equipment used in the Indo war are the series of articles by M. Denis Lassus. These were printed in French in the 'Militaria' series and in English in the 'Military Illustrated' series of magazines some time ago. 'Militaria published something on the Indo war in almost every issue. Paul Meekin books had a huge selection at Detling this year.

Regards

Mark

For those who are interested and have the gear I am planning another Indo photoshoot this coming May (2010). The theme will be the fighting retreat of the 6e BPC at Tu Le in 1952. The gear will be US 'Duckhunter' camo jackets, British windproof camo trousers, US helmets and a mixture of US WWII and French TAP webbing.

If anyone has the gear and feels that they meet the standard then feel free to PM me.

* NOTE * No timewaster please!!
